
Nepal Announces Budget of NPR 19.64 Trillion for FY 2082/83
The Government of Nepal has introduced a total budget of NPR 19.64 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel presented the income and expenditure estimates today at the joint session of the Federal Parliament.
Allocation Breakdown
According to Minister Paudel’s budget speech:

NPR 11.80 trillion (60.1%) has been allocated for recurrent expenditure.

NPR 4.0789 trillion (20.8%) has been set aside for capital expenditure.

NPR 3.7524 trillion (19.1%) has been allocated for financial management.
Comparison with Previous Year
The total expenditure estimate for the upcoming fiscal year is 5.6 percent higher than the allocation of the current fiscal year and 18.2 percent more than the revised estimate.
Inter-Governmental Transfers
Out of the total budget, NPR 4.1783 trillion has been allocated for fiscal transfers to provincial and local levels.
Revenue and Deficit Management
To meet the expenditure:

NPR 13.15 trillion is expected to be collected through internal revenue.

NPR 53.45 billion is expected from foreign grants.
The remaining budget deficit of NPR 5.9566 trillion will be covered through:

NPR 3.62 trillion from internal borrowing.
