Senior Citizens School Near Launch in Rampur, Palpa

A Senior Citizens School is in its final stage of preparation at Ramghat, Rampur Municipality–5, Palpa. Rampur Municipality stated that it is making the last arrangements to operate the school from the current fiscal year.

The school aims to ensure dignified, active living for senior citizens while safeguarding traditions and culture, and transmitting elders’ experience and knowledge to younger generations. Mayor Raman Bahadur Thapa said the school is being launched to preserve culture and to support seniors in leading a respectful, active life. “The objective of operating the school is not only to honor senior citizens; it is also to preserve traditions and culture,” he said.

Operation Plan

Classes will run mainly in the afternoons. Seniors will be brought to the school so that the younger generation can study and learn about long-standing customs and culture. The municipality will gradually arrange observation visits for students from all schools within the municipality to attend sessions at the Senior Citizens School. According to the mayor, the school will contribute to preserving and transferring traditions and culture across generations.

Program Components

Rampur Municipality noted that the Senior Citizens School will include:

  • Religious discourses

  • Bhajan–kirtan

  • Instruction on household materials and their use

  • Daytime snacks for senior citizens

  • Health check-ups

  • Evening aarti

Infrastructure and Management

Chief Administrative Officer Surya Darshan Pandit said that, alongside constructing the school building, a bus has been purchased for seniors’ transportation, and management work is in its final stage. To operate the Senior Citizens School in an organized manner, an 11-member management committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Buddhi Prakash Regmi.
