Request to Implement Saturday and Sunday Public Holidays in Educational Institutions
The Center for Education and Human Resource Development has requested Education Development and Coordination Units, local levels, and schools to implement the decision to provide two public holidays a week, on Saturday and Sunday, in educational institutions during the academic session 2083.
The decision to provide two public holidays a week in educational institutions was made as per the decision of the Government of Nepal, Council of Ministers, dated 2082 Chaitra 22. To implement the decision, the Center stated that educational institutions must adjust the working hours required by the approved curriculum for teaching and learning, as per the decision of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology dated 2083/01/28.
For implementation of the decision, the Center has requested the following arrangements:

Manage 15 minutes of prayer time and 30 minutes of snack time each day.

Conduct full-time teaching and learning-related activities from Monday to Friday.

Maintain the winter/summer vacation period at 30 days instead of the previous 45 days.

Internal assessments conducted in the first and second trimesters may be managed on teaching days or on days that do not affect teaching and learning. The final 12 days of the academic session may be used for the final examination and publication of results.

Based on the approved curriculum and the prescribed learning achievements, multidisciplinary project and practical work related to community and family activities, reference materials, and the use of information technology should be assigned on Fridays for learning management on a weekly basis, and opportunities for presentation should be provided as required.

For project and practical work, support may also be taken from the Project and Practical Work Operation Facilitation Handbook, 2082, available on the website of the Curriculum Development Center. For this purpose, local levels, schools, and teachers may develop and implement project work covering the subject areas of the approved curriculum.
