Bardaghat Municipality Provides MBBS Scholarships
Bardaghat Municipality of West Nawalparasi has granted scholarships this year to students pursuing medical education (MBBS). Through the Municipal Mayor’s Scholarship Fund, five MBBS students have received scholarships ranging from 40,000 to 60,000.
According to the municipality, scholarships were provided based on the criteria included in the Municipal Education Act. Alongside MBBS, 36 students studying nursing, science, humanities, management, and education faculties have also benefited.
Students from different faculties received scholarships ranging from a minimum of 10,000 to a maximum of 60,000.
Mayor Shambhulal Shrestha stated that the scholarship was provided with the aim of improving the quality of education and inspiring both students and parents with positive energy. He added, “Rather than the amount being big or small, our goal was to encourage students.” He further clarified that the main purpose was to support disadvantaged and diligent students.
Among the applicants, students were shortlisted for scholarships based on recommendations from wards and related educational institutions, prioritizing poor, disadvantaged, extremely disadvantaged, and diligent students.
According to Chief Administrative Officer Prakash Khanal, the scholarship amount will be deposited directly into the students’ bank accounts. The municipality has spent a total of 605,000 this year for scholarships.
