Nepal Army Invites Applications for Sainik Welfare Scholarship (Domestic)
Kathmandu: The Military Welfare Directorate, Baladhyaksha Department, Army Headquarters, has invited applications for the “Sainik Welfare Scholarship (Domestic)” for the academic session 2082 under various programs operated through the Military Welfare Fund. The Directorate published the notice for the first time on 2083/05/10, inviting applications from eligible students.
1. Scholarship Details

Scholarship Amount: A lump sum of Rs. 25,000 (twenty-five thousand) per student per year.

Students Eligible for the Scholarship: Sons or daughters of serving and retired personnel of the Nepali Army.

Grades: Students must have passed Grade 4 through Grade 12.

Age of Students: Must not exceed 21 years of age.
2. Students Eligible for the Scholarship

The applicant must be a son or daughter of serving or retired personnel of the Nepali Army.
-
Only one child (son or daughter) of a beneficiary will receive the scholarship.
-
The student must have passed Grade 4 through Grade 12 in the academic session 2082.
-
In the annual examination of 2082, students studying in community/government schools must have passed with at least 40% overall (GPA 1.6), while students studying in institutional private schools must have passed with at least 50% overall (GPA 2.0).

If only grades are mentioned on the mark sheet and the grade is A+ or D, the percentage or GPA must be clearly stated.

Students must be studying at schools or colleges recognized by the Government of Nepal. If an educational institution operating in Nepal is run by a foreign country, it must be recognized by the Government of Nepal, and proof of recognition must be submitted.

In the case of serving personnel, only children (sons/daughters) registered in the Nepali Army’s HR Digitization system will be eligible for this facility.

In the case of serving and retired beneficiaries who were injured during the past conflict and certified by the Ceremonies and Operations Directorate as requiring assistance, personnel of all ranks who died in the line of duty while deployed to control a fire in Ramechhap district, and personnel who died in the Ramche landslide in Rasuwa district: if one child of a couple is studying at an educational institution operated at the expense of the Military Welfare Fund or at an Empanelled School, an application may be submitted for one other child. If neither of the two children is studying at such an institution or Empanelled School, applications may be submitted for two children.

If no scholarship concession has been received from a Sainik Mahavidyalaya or Empanelled School, applications may be submitted for two children of beneficiaries who died in the devastating earthquake of 2072.

In the case of twins, if no scholarship concession has been received from a Sainik Mahavidyalaya or Empanelled School, only one child may apply for the scholarship.

One child legally adopted as a son or daughter by serving or retired personnel of any rank of the Nepali Army in accordance with prevailing Nepalese law is eligible.
3. Students Ineligible for the Scholarship

Students studying with a rank-based fee concession during the academic session 2082 at educational institutions operated at the expense of the Welfare Fund, including colleges operated under colleges/schools/institutes, are not eligible for the scholarship. Therefore, students studying at such colleges or schools on a full-fee basis or under the civilian quota must compulsorily submit a recommendation letter from the concerned institution confirming this status.

Students receiving the “Chief of the Army Staff Scholarship” distributed by the Welfare Fund to families of personnel who attained martyrdom or died in the line of duty are not eligible to apply.

A beneficiary is not eligible if one of their children is currently receiving educational facilities at an institution operating under an Empanelled agreement.

Persons who were dismissed or discharged from service for various reasons during their service period and did not receive a patta for welfare family benefits are not eligible to apply for the welfare scholarship.

Students studying at foreign schools outside Nepal are not eligible.

If a scholarship amount for Grade 12 was received in a previous academic session, an application cannot be submitted for another child, as this facility is available to only one child of one couple.
4. Documents That Must Be Submitted with the Application
For Serving Personnel
(a) Character certificate or recommendation letter from the school.
(b) Annual mark sheet for the academic session 2082.
(c) Birth registration certificate or citizenship certificate.
(d) Copy of the military identity card. If the military identity card has not been issued, a recommendation letter from the unit confirming that the card has not been issued must be submitted.
(e) Marriage registration certificate.
For Retired Personnel
(a) Character certificate or recommendation letter from the school.
(b) Annual mark sheet for the academic session 2082.
(c) Birth registration certificate or citizenship certificate.
(d) Pension patta, including the page containing the name of the concerned person and the nominated person.
(e) Marriage registration certificate.
(f) Relationship verification certificate.
(g) Wife’s citizenship certificate.
5. Application Location and Dates

Application Period: From 2083/05/10 to 2083/06/31.

For Serving Personnel of All Ranks: Their respective unit/formation.

For Retired Personnel of All Ranks: Any convenient Nepali Army unit/formation.
Important Notes
-
Since online applications through the Nepali Army’s Digitization system have been used since last year for JCOs and other ranks, starting this year, personnel of all ranks—including general officers, officers, JCOs, and other ranks—must complete the application form online through the Digitization system.

When submitting the documents listed above, details such as the student’s name, date of birth, and marks obtained as shown on the mark sheet must be clearly stated.

In special circumstances involving conflict-affected beneficiaries, personnel who died in fires or landslides, adopted sons or daughters, or earthquake-affected beneficiaries, additional documents certified by the relevant directorate, unit, or local authority must be submitted.
