Overview
Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Dharan (सैनिक आवासिय माध्यमिक विद्यालय, धरान, सुनसरी) was established on July 7, 2006 as a government educational institution, which is situated in Phurse, Dharan, Sunsari, Nepal. It is affiliated with the National Examination Board (NEB) and approved by the Ministry of Education. It offers educational programs from Playgroup to Grade 10, as well as plus two programs under Management, Science, and Humanities streams.
Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Dharan, was established with the noble objective of promoting all-around development and fostering positive transformation in society and the nation through education. The motto of this Mahavidyalaya is "ज्ञानेन परमो सेवा", meaning ‘providing knowledge is the greatest service’.
The objective of this Mahavidyalaya is to prepare patriotic, disciplined, competent, and dutiful citizens by imparting quality, century-appropriate education to the talented children of in-service and retired Nepali Army personnel and civilians within the national education system, in accordance with the national education policy.
It has achieved excellent academic and other successes by developing all-around student development through various ECA/CCA activities. For each academic session, quotas are established for 60% of military and 40% of non-military students in classes 6 and 11 (Science), who are admitted through an annual open entrance examination.
Sainik School, Dharan was inaugurated by the then Vice-Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Kritinidhi Bishta, on the occasion of the 59th Birthday Anniversary of Then His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev.
In the first year of establishment, 99 students, comprising 82 males and 17 females, were enrolled in Class 4, with 5 teachers, 8 staff members, and some army personnel. The first principal of the Mahavidyalaya was Mr. Aj Bahadur KC and the first liaison officer was Major Kisan Singh Bhandari. The total area of this Mahavidyalaya is 12 bigha 11 kattha 2 dhur, and to date, 1,148 students have completed their studies at this institution.
