Ncell Axiata Limited, a private-sector mobile service provider, has started distributing e-SIMs. Informing that this service has been started from Friday, 25th November 2022, the company has requested the customers to benefit through the use of e-SIM.

E-SIM i.e. Embedded SIM is a digital SIM that can be used instead of the physical SIM that is currently being used. This SIM is in a small chip inside the mobile phone or device that supports e-SIM and telecommunication services can be taken from it. It is considered safer than physical sim and even if your mobile phone is lost or stolen, the e-SIM cannot be removed or removed from the mobile phone.

According to the company, Ncell customers can easily upgrade their current SIM to e-SIM by sending a request via SMS. For this, the customer should type his citizenship number, email address and send an SMS to 17125.

Before taking the e-SIM, the customer receives a call from the Ncell representative for customer identification. There will be no charge for sending this SMS and upgrading the SIM. Customers can also upgrade their SIM to e-SIM from their nearest Ncell center.

New customers can also get an e-SIM from any Ncell center with the 'starter pack' of their choice by completing the necessary procedures. In order to avail the e-SIM facility, the customer must have an e-SIM supporting mobile phone.

The customer should dial *#06# to know if his mobile e-SIM is working/not working. If the details with the Embedded Identity Document (EID) appear on the customer's display, the e-SIM will work on such a mobile.

As the use of connected devices is increasing among both consumers and businesses, the company believes that e-SIM will play an important role in the development of information and communication technology.

Like the latest iPhone models; the iPhone XS series, iPhone 11 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series and iPhone 14 series have e-SIM facility. Similarly, Samsung's Galaxy A21 series, Galaxy A22 series, Galaxy Z Flip series, and Google's Pixel 4 series, Pixel 5 series and Pixel 6 series also have the facility of e-SIM.

Depending on the brand and model of the mobile phone, there is also a facility to register more than one e-SIM number in different mobile phones. However, only one number is active at a time.
