For the purpose of discouraging the illegal import, sale, distribution, and use of mobile sets and for the purpose of making it more systematic, type approval must be obtained from the Authority before importing mobile sets in Nepal. In the context of the provision of non-registration of IMEI and speedy implementation of mobile device management system by the Telecommunication Authority of Nepal, the following has been clarified for the information of all concerned.
Customers do not have to re-register their IMEI in the case of mobile sets imported and purchased in Nepal as per the rules of business.
Many mobile customers are confused as to whether to register the IMEI of their set in use and the number of contacting this authority has increased and the order available on the authority's website: https://eir.nta.gov.np/main/individual Excessive growth and technical problems with the system have hampered the registration process; And NEA is trying to speed up the system and it will take some time for the system to run smoothly.
Arrangements will be made for the telecommunication service of the customer not to be disrupted in the case of the sets being used by the individual imported from abroad and arrangements will be made to register the IMEI by providing a more appropriate time after the blocked IMEI registration system is activated. The Authority apologizes for the inconvenience caused to the customer due to the currently blocked IMEI registration system.
While purchasing mobile sets in Nepal, we request all concerned to purchase imported mobile sets with IMEI registered with NEA as per the rules and to get rid of unnecessary hassle and confusion by purchasing with mandatory VAT bills.
