Use Your Own SIM Card

The SIM card in the name of others is no longer available. Nepal Telecommunication Authority is preparing to make compulsory registration of SIM card in the name of the person who is using it. Chairman of the authority Purushottam Khanal said that all the SIMs issued by the concerned users were planned to be registered within the next three months. "In a few days, we will inform all users through mobile service providers if they are using the SIM card of others' names," he said. Khanal, chairman of the NEA, said that the decision has not been made on what to do for those who do not register the SIM in their name at the specified time. "We will decide later," he said.

According to NEA statistics, 20.02 million SIM cards have been issued from Nepal Telecom till June, while Ncell has issued 22.66 million SIM cards. About 70 percent of these SIM cards are estimated by the authority in the respective username. The Authority has published a public notice last week about registering the SIM card in its own name and linking the mobile number to the Civil Rights app. The government is launching a campaign to register the SIM card related user name for the implementation of the civil rights app. According to the authority, the phone number will be identified through the civil rights app. The citizen mobile app is going to be made public within this fiscal year as announced by the government in the budget. In this app, citizens can open an account with their phone number. Citizens can apply through the app for various office services. This app will be implemented from the Prime Minister's Office.

According to Asghar Ali, Information Technology Advisor to the Prime Minister, the civil rights app will initially have at least eight offices. "It is planned to expand this service to all government offices by expanding it later," he said, adding that users should not have to worry about submitting various details and filling out forms in each office while taking service through the app. Once the user has uploaded personal information like citizen, birthdate, educational details in the app, no need to submit the details to any office. "If anyone wants to get a PAN, he can apply to the Internal Revenue Department's office through the app," said the Information Technology Advisor to the Prime Minister, adding that the office will automatically integrate all the government's information collection system for the app. "The details of this app have been set up to establish an integrated system so that the system in the government officials can be taken," he said, adding that 'all the offices will be added to this by installing some offices initially.'

At present, different government offices are collecting data of their servicemen. Government agencies such as the Election Commission, District Administration Office, Department of Transportation, Department of Transportation, Passport Department, Internal Revenue Department have collected and collected the details of the beneficiaries in digital format. Once such a system has been established to ensure that the compiled details are not verified the next time, the serviceman is required to fill out the form and submit his details.
