CNRM was established as a college of Agriculture and Forestry University under the Faculty of Agriculture. Its approval came from the “4th Extended Meeting” of the AFU Senate on 19th Ashad, 2072.

Local involvement was part of the establishment process. “Krishi College Sthapanartha Tadartha Committee Puranchaur, Kaski” supported the development of the college and organized a Mahayagya to raise funds for land acquisition.

The committee collected Rs. 4 crores and 22 lakh and purchased nearly 50 ropanies of land. The land certificates were handed over to Agriculture and Forestry University. The committee was also working toward purchasing an additional 10 ropanies of land for AFU.
