Academic Program

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)

Latinath Campus offers the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program under Tribhuvan University’s Faculty of Education. The B.Ed. program is a four-year bachelor’s degree conducted through the annual examination system.

The program is both academic and professional in nature. It is designed to prepare students for teaching two subjects at the secondary level. Students study one specialization major and one specialization minor.

Students select a minor subject different from the major subject. In Science Education, students majoring in Physical Science select Biology as the minor subject.

B.Ed. Course Structure

The four-year B.Ed. program requires students to pass 22 courses with a total of 2200 full marks. The courses are divided into communication skills, professional core areas, specialization major courses, specialization minor courses, and teaching internship or practicum.

The year-wise marks distribution is 600 marks in the first year, 600 marks in the second year, 500 marks in the third year, and 500 marks in the fourth year.

Core Areas of Study

The B.Ed. curriculum includes compulsory communication courses, professional education courses, specialization subjects, and teaching practice or practicum.

Group A includes General Nepali and General English. Group B includes professional core courses such as Philosophical and Sociological Foundations of Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Evaluation, and an elective course in Instructional Technology, ICT in Education, or ICT in a specialized subject.

Group C covers specialization major courses, while Group D covers specialization minor courses. Group E includes Teaching Internship or Practicum.

Eligibility for B.Ed.

Students with Higher Secondary Education Examination Pass Certificate, Grade 12 pass, Proficiency Certificate Level of Tribhuvan University, or an equivalent qualification are eligible for admission to the B.Ed. program.

Additional subject requirements apply for different specialization areas. For Nepali Education, students need Nepali major with at least 200 marks. For Mathematics Education, students need Mathematics major with at least 200 marks. For Science Education, students need Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects with at least 100 full marks in each subject.

For English Education, students may qualify through English or Linguistics major, 50 percent marks in General English, or 50 percent marks in the entrance examination conducted by the respective campus department.

For Health and Physical Education, students from relevant academic backgrounds may study the subject. Students without a health and physical education background must pass the physical fitness-related entrance test conducted by the respective campus department.

Teaching Practice and Professional Preparation

Teaching practice or practicum is part of the B.Ed. program structure. This component connects academic study with practical teacher preparation.

The program includes educational theory, child development, classroom management, curriculum, evaluation, subject teaching methods, and teaching practice. These areas support students preparing for teaching and education-related work.
