TITI (Training Institute for Technical Instruction), Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, is a well-established institution with a rich history and a strong commitment to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Established in 1991 as the “Technical Instructors Training Institute,” TITI was founded in Nepal with support from the Swiss Government and Swisscontact, the Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation.
The primary objective of TITI is to address the training needs of technical instructors, managers, and curriculum developers in the TVET sector. The institute is dedicated to enhancing the quality of TVET programs and services through its training, educational initiatives, and research activities.
With a clear vision of becoming a “Center of Excellence” in the field of TVET, TITI aims to develop human resource capacity not only in Asia but also beyond. The institute strives to provide up-to-date training and education, equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in technical and vocational fields.
Established in 1991 as the “Technical Instructors Training Institute” with support from the Swiss Government and Swisscontact.
Originally a Nepali national institute, TITI aimed to address the training needs of technical, managerial, and curriculum development personnel in the TVET sector.
Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation (SDC), through Swisscontact (the Swiss Foundation for Technical Cooperation), played a significant role in its establishment.
TITI’s programs and services are mandated by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

TITI has a proven track record of training over 26,000 instructional, managerial, and curriculum development professionals from a diverse range of countries.
Participants from Afghanistan, Albania, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, India, Indonesia, Kosovo, Mali, Moldova, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe have benefited from TITI’s training programs.
The institute has also provided technical consultancies and services to national and international organizations, including GTZ, DFID, SNV, ILO/UNDP, SDC, UNICEF, ADRA, SOS, NCED, Aga Khan Foundation, UNFPA, and ADB.
TITI’s recognition and reputation continue to grow due to its physical and working environment, available resources, and institutional standing in both local and international contexts.
TITI received the “Knowledge Management Oscar” in 2005 for its implementation of the Skill Card System, an initiative supported by Swisscontact, Switzerland.
The institute was honored with a special commendation prize for “Innovative Training Practices” in 2006 by the Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD), India.
