Course Structure
The four-year B.Ed. curriculum contains five academic components. Students complete two Communication Skills courses, four Professional Core courses, ten Specialization Major courses, five Specialization Minor courses, and one Teaching Internship or Practicum course.
Communication Skills includes General Nepali and General English. The professional core area covers Philosophical and Sociological Foundations of Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Evaluation, and an elective related to instructional technology or ICT in education.
Students select one major specialization and a different minor specialization. The curriculum includes subject areas such as Nepali Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Health and Physical Education, Population Education, Geography Education, Economics Education, History Education, and Political Science Education. Additional minor areas include Health Education, Physical Education, Primary Education, Early Childhood Development Education, Vocational Education, Non-Formal Education, and Education Management.
The first and second years each carry 600 marks, while the third and fourth years each carry 500 marks. Teaching Practice is included in the fourth year together with major, minor, and elective study.
Eligibility
Applicants who have passed Grade 12, Higher Secondary Education, the Proficiency Certificate Level of Tribhuvan University, or an equivalent qualification may apply for admission. Additional academic conditions apply according to the selected major specialization.
For example, Mathematics Education requires an academic background in mathematics, while Science Education requires prior study of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. English Education and Health and Physical Education also have specific subject or entrance-related conditions under the Tribhuvan University curriculum.
Teaching and Campus Resources
The program is structured as both an academic and professional degree for preparing teachers who can teach two subjects at the secondary level. Teaching Practice gives students a structured opportunity to apply educational knowledge in a practical setting.
