Course Overview

The English and Nepali Education curricula follow a four-year, eight-semester structure with 120 credit hours. B.Ed. Specializations

B.Ed. in English Education

The English Education specialization develops knowledge of the English language, literature, communication and language teaching. Students begin with courses such as English Grammar and Comprehension, English for Communication, Linguistics for Language Teachers, Study Skills and Academic Writing, and English Pronunciation Studies.

Later semesters cover English literature, ICT for English teachers, mindful pedagogy, English grammar in use, ELT methods, curriculum and teaching resources, language skills, assessment, second-language acquisition and multilingual pedagogy.

The final stages include teacher development, research methods in English language teaching, materials development, community engagement, action research and teaching practicum. The curriculum connects language proficiency with classroom planning, inclusive teaching and professional practice.

B.Ed. in Nepali Education

The Nepali Education specialization focuses on Nepali language skills, literature, language teaching and academic study. Its curriculum develops students’ abilities in listening, speaking, reading and writing while also covering literary analysis, language research and educational practice.

The course addresses areas such as Nepali language and script, poetry, fiction, linguistics, practical writing, essays, literary criticism, folk literature, language teaching, translation, curriculum, assessment and creative writing.

Research, digital literacy and teaching practice are integrated into the later semesters. The program concludes with practice teaching courses designed to connect academic study with classroom responsibilities.

B.Ed. in Population Education

Rara Multiple Campus also offers B.Ed. in Population Education. Students in this specialization study education alongside their subject area and participate in the campus’s academic, examination and practice-teaching system.

Course Structure

The B.Ed. curriculum develops progressively across eight semesters. The early semesters establish a base in language, communication, educational foundations and learning theories. Middle semesters introduce curriculum, evaluation, research and specialization-focused subjects.

Advanced semesters place greater emphasis on teaching methods, assessment, professional development and subject-specific research. The final year includes practical and research-based components, including teaching practicum.

Assessment combines internal evaluation with external examinations. The detailed curriculum uses a 40 percent internal and 60 percent external evaluation structure for relevant courses.

Internal evaluation may include attendance, assignments, project work, presentations and mid-term examinations. External evaluation is conducted through the end-of-semester examination system.

Research assignments, action research, internships and teaching practice may also form part of evaluation in advanced semesters, depending on the specialization.
