Program focus
The MBA program develops advanced knowledge of business functions and organizational management. Students study how organizations make financial, operational, marketing and human resource decisions while responding to ethical, social and international business concerns.
Its objectives include developing leadership, strategic thinking, communication, critical analysis and ethical decision-making. The coursework also encourages students to examine complex business situations, apply management concepts and consider business activity within national and international settings.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university. They must have completed at least 15 years of formal education, consisting of 12 years of schooling and three years of graduation.
Applicants must also have secured a minimum CGPA of 2.0 or second-division marks at the bachelor’s level.
Admission process
The Faculty of Management of Far Western University announces applications for admission to the MBA program. Candidates may obtain the application form from the concerned department or campus after paying the prescribed fee.
Applicants must appear in the Management Admission Test conducted by the Faculty of Management. Admission is determined by performance in the entrance test and the availability of seats.
Curriculum and semester structure
The first semester builds a foundation through Managerial Communication, Emerging Concepts in Management, Statistics for Management, Managerial Economics, Organizational Behaviour, Business, Society and Ethics, and Marketing Management.
The second semester covers Managerial Accounting and Control, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Human Resource Management, International Business, Financial Management and Management Information System.
Third-semester courses include Business Research Methods, Operations Management and Supply Chain, E-Business, Entrepreneurship and Internship. Students also begin concentration study during this semester.
The fourth semester includes Strategic Management, Business Plan for New Venture Development—Seminar, Taxation and Tax Planning—Workshop, concentration courses, a concentration-related seminar and Thesis.

These options allow students to develop focused knowledge connected with their academic interests and intended area of management practice.
Internship and thesis
The internship places students in an enterprise or field-based setting for approximately six to eight weeks. Students complete practical work and submit an internship report in the prescribed format.
The thesis is an independent academic research project undertaken in the fourth semester. It involves fieldwork and empirical analysis. Assessment includes the written thesis and a viva voce examination.
Evaluation and degree requirements
Course performance is evaluated through internal and external components. Internal evaluation carries 40 percent and may include quizzes, assignments, presentations, class participation, term papers, group discussions and midterm examinations. Semester-end examinations conducted through the Office of Examinations carry 60 percent. Students must pass the internal and external evaluations separately.
For admission batches from 2081 BS onward, assessment follows a four-point grading system. Students must maintain an SGPA of at least 3.0 to pass each semester and a minimum CGPA of 3.0 for graduation. They must also complete all prescribed courses, seminars, internship and thesis requirements.

Western College and Research Center provides classrooms, a library, computer lab, internet access, multimedia resources and a conference hall. Student facilities and support include counselling, scholarships, sports, extracurricular activities, tours, a cafeteria and CCTV monitoring.
