The 2nd Inter-College Girls’ Basketball Tournament 2025, hosted at the Royal Basketball Academy in Sanogaun, Siddhipur, concluded today. GoldenGate International College won the tournament title.

Xavier International College finished as the first runner-up following a strong performance in the final. Landmark Academy secured the second runner-up position.

The tournament was jointly organized by Professional Education Consultancy (PEC) and the Australian Catholic University (ACU). PEC has been providing educational services for more than 32 years and has remained active for nearly two decades in promoting women-centered sports initiatives. The organization has supported opportunities in women’s cricket and basketball, contributing to women’s empowerment through sports.

The involvement of Ms. Indu Barma, captain of the Nepal Women’s National Cricket Team and PEC’s brand ambassador, reflects PEC’s continued commitment to supporting women athletes in Nepal.

At the opening ceremony, Ms. Anushka Shrestha, ACU’s Nepal representative, attended as the chief guest. In her remarks, she highlighted the role of sports in shaping leadership, confidence, and discipline. She also stressed the importance of ensuring meaningful platforms and equal opportunities for female students in sports.

Mr. Raju Singh, Director of Sales and Marketing at PEC, stated that PEC’s work extends beyond education to broader social development, with a continued focus on women’s empowerment through sports. He reiterated the organization’s commitment to supporting young women athletes.

This year, eight teams from Kathmandu competed, marking the highest participation since the tournament began. The presence of players from the Nepal Women’s National Basketball Team added further energy and encouragement for the participating students.

The week-long tournament ran from December 1 to December 7, 2025. Organizers have announced plans to continue the event annually in the coming years, with expectations that it will further support women’s sports, leadership development, and youth empowerment.
