97th Birth Anniversary of Ramesh Bikal Observed
A program was held on the occasion of the 97th birth anniversary of distinguished Nepali literary figure Ramesh Bikal. The event was organized by the Ramesh Bikal Sahitya Pratishthan, with Gokarneshwar Municipality as co-organizer. It took place at the Ramesh Bikal Sahitya Pratishthan in Gokarna.

Chief Guest’s Address
Former Member of the House of Representatives Santosh Chalise, as chief guest, recalled Bikal’s various efforts in the early days within the Gokarna area in both literary and social spheres. He stated that the Foundation should be developed into a national center for literary study. He also acknowledged the contribution of Bikal’s family in bringing the Foundation to its present level.
Remarks by the Mayor
Gokarneshwar Municipality Mayor Dipak Risal expressed that he is proud the municipality is increasingly known as a literary municipality. He stated that, in the upcoming budget, the municipality plans to arrange staff to run the Foundation on a regular basis. He further noted that the municipality is planning to establish an international-level literary award in the future.

Gokarneshwar Municipality is currently distributing literary awards each year at the local and national levels.
Perspective from the Foundation
Speaking about the personality and works of senior creator Ramesh Bikal, Foundation Vice Chair Hemanath Paudel said Bikal was a distinguished practitioner who wrote across diverse areas of Nepali literature.
Chair’s Note and Acknowledgement
Presiding over the program, Foundation President Rochak Ghimire stated that bringing the Foundation—together with its building—to its present state has been possible due to the significant contributions of members of the Bikal family, Members of Parliament from the Gokarna area, Gokarneshwar Municipality, and local stakeholders.
