World Alzheimers Day

Today, September 21, 2021, we are celebrating World Alzheimer's Day with the slogan "Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer's" with various awareness programs around the world.

On the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day, we wish a healthy and meaningful life to all citizens. Especially as the disease is more prevalent in senior citizens, it is important for senior citizens to be more aware of mental health as they get older.

We have been struggling with the Covid-19 epidemic for the past two years and human life is becoming extremely difficult. There is a problem in keeping our social norms, diet, and behavior in balance. In spite of this, the Government of Nepal has been continuously providing vaccines against COVID-19 and programs such as vitamins and immunizations for the chronically ill and children, including senior citizens, by giving them a priority.

Alzheimer's is a type of mental illness. With the onset of the disease, brain cells gradually become dehydrated. Due to which we gradually forget, forget, do not know and due to which it is difficult to manage to eat, sleep, defecate and urinate. With the slogan "Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer's", it is important to raise public awareness against Alzheimer's and diagnose the disease in time.

It is important for the family and society to support the long-term management of people suffering from this disease and the state to come up with a special plan to pay special attention to health check-ups of Alzheimer's victims, psychiatric counseling services for mental retardation, balanced diet, care, protection, yoga, meditation, exercise, etc.

The Government of Nepal has provided Rs. 100,000 (one lakh) were being provided financial assistance. Recently, in the revised policy and program of the government, additional Rs. 5000 (five thousand) assistance has been provided.
