Eighth Baglung Festival to Be Held in Baglung
The Baglung Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organizing the eighth Baglung Festival from Poush 11 to 21.
The festival is being organized as a Gandaki Province-level tourism, agriculture and industrial trade fair and Baglung Festival under the slogan: “Tourism, agriculture, art, culture, industry and trade, the foundation for building a prosperous Baglung.”
On Thursday, the Chamber provided information about the festival through a press conference. At the press conference, President Rajan Kumar Shakya stated that the festival would be made unique. According to Shakya, the festival will be used to promote tourism, support the district’s development and construction, and contribute to the institutional development of the Chamber.
Objectives and Expected Participation
The target is to attract 800,000 visitors to the festival.
It was informed that the profit from the festival will be used to operate the “Koseli Ghar” located in Baglung, 10 rupees from each festival ticket will be contributed to support the campaign of Manav Sewa Ashram to make Nepal free of street dwellers, a fund will be established for sports, and five lakh rupees will be allocated through the festival for the operation of the member welfare fund to be run by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Planned Activities and Events
The festival will include documentary exhibitions of tourist destinations in the district and province, a TikTok challenge, a photo content competition, hiking and tour packages, and the establishment of a “Made in Baglung” section to promote local products.
In addition, the Chamber has planned activities such as digital advertising, a DJ concert on the occasion of the English New Year, establishment and promotion of an orange zone, promotion of fish and homestay connections, and exhibitions of local food.
The festival will also feature the sale of indigenous crops and livestock-based products, displays of traditional ethnic cultural performances, information technology-related consultation and sales, educational counseling, stalls of ethnic cuisines, and an exhibition of products under the “One Village One Product” concept.
To manage the festival in an organized manner, a main ceremony committee under the chairpersonship of President Rajan Kumar Shakya has been formed along with more than a dozen sub-committees.
Income Target and Business Promotion Focus
This time, the festival has set a target of generating around one crore 50 lakh rupees in income and saving 50 lakh rupees after covering all expenses, according to Shakya. The festival will be linked to the promotion of business in Baglung.
For this purpose, discussions will be held to explore the district’s potential. Although the festival will be held at Bangechaur of Baglung Municipality Ward No. 1, the discussions aimed at exploring potential will be organized at various locations in Baglung Bazaar, according to outgoing president Naresh Kandel.
Kandel stated that, in recent times, business promotion programmes have been conducted in the Balewa area of Baglung through The Club, the meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry held in Dhorpatan has increased publicity, and in recent years the number of tourists visiting Dhorpatan has reached into the hundreds.
