Gems International School Honors Students, Parents, and Staff
Gems International Secondary Boarding School, located in Pokhariya, Biratnagar-1, honored students, parents, and teacher-staff for outstanding contributions in various fields on the occasion of its 32nd anniversary and Parents’ Day.
A special ceremony was held on February 18, 2026 [Falgun 6, 2082 (BS)], Wednesday, where the school presented honors and awards by recognizing academic excellence, multi-dimensional talent, and long-term service.
Special recognition for SEE achievement
The school provided special recognition to Chandrakumar Pokharel and Sumana Acharya Pokharel, parents of student Shreeji Pokharel, who secured an excellent result with a 4 GPA in last year’s SEE examination.
Student of the Year and academic rankings
The school declared Anadi Dhaka, a multi-talented Grade 9 student, as “Student of the Year” and awarded the student accordingly.

Key remarks from guests and speakers
Dr. Govind Guragain, Assistant Controller of Examinations at Tribhuvan University, emphasized the need to focus on practical and life-useful education alongside curriculum-based studies.
Speakers including parent Chandrakumar Pokharel, civil society leader Basanta Adhikari, school Director Bheshraj Pokharel, Principal Pankaj Khadka, Maryland College Principal Laxman Dhakal, litterateur Dineshraj Subedi (Dinglali Kancho), and poet and journalist Meenkumar Navodit shared the view that, along with technology-friendly education, education in values and morality should also be given equal priority.
