GMDL Releases 2026 Regional and National Round Schedule
Kathmandu: The Global Math Debate League (GMDL), which has been running to connect mathematical reasoning with the ability to think and debate, has published its regional and national stage programs for 2026.
With the goal of developing critical thinking, effective expression, and collaborative problem-solving among school-level students, the league has been moving forward as one of the country’s key academic competitions.
Regional Competitions Across Five Locations
Regional competitions will be held at five locations across the country throughout February 2026, with participation from schools in different regions. The regional schedule is as follows:

Jhapa: February 4 and 5, 2026 [2082 Magh 21 and 22, BS].

Chitwan: February 7 and 8, 2026 [2082 Magh 24 and 25, BS].

Butwal-Bhairahawa: February 10 and 11, 2026 [2082 Magh 27 and 28, BS].

Pokhara: February 13 and 14, 2026 [2082 Falgun 1 and 2, BS].

Kathmandu (final regional round): February 16 and 17, 2026 [2082 Falgun 4 and 5, BS].
National Competition in Kathmandu
With participation from the best teams selected from the regional stage, the national competition will be held in Kathmandu on February 21 and 22, 2026 [2082 Falgun 9 and 10, BS].
What GMDL Says About Its Approach
GMDL co-founder Divesh Bathija said they are developing mathematics not as a subject to learn by memorization, but as a subject for debate, reasoning, and real-life problem-solving.
He stated that through competitions held across five regions of Nepal and through strong partnerships, the league is preparing a new generation of students who can compete on the global stage with strong thinking skills.
Partners Supporting the 2026 Edition
This edition has active collaboration from various educational and institutional partners.
Britannica Inc, known globally for knowledge and learning materials, has joined GMDL as a research and skills technology partner. The collaboration is described as strengthening the league through reliable content, deeper research, and future-oriented skills.
Dubai-based Educase and Lab of Future are also contributing to the league’s success through their experience and support.

Pokhara competition to have Kumudini Homes School as a co-host, with expectations of increasing the league’s impact in Gandaki Province
Logistics and Sponsorship
On competition days, Foodmandu will manage meals for participants and the organizing team as the food partner.
TBG Nepal (The Beyond Group Nepal) is supporting the initiative as a Fraction Sponsor and has stated its commitment to education and youth development.
