Foundation to Celebrate Silver Jubilee, Announce Indigenous Knowledge Conference
Kathmandu, February 7, 2026 [2082 Magh 24, BS]:
The Adivasi Janajati Utthan National Foundation has announced that it will celebrate its Silver Jubilee to mark the completion of 25 years since its establishment. On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee, the Foundation has also announced the organization of the “Nepal Indigenous Knowledge Conference-Festival 2082.”
The Foundation shared this information through a press conference held today, stating that the Silver Jubilee will be celebrated with the main theme, “Exchange of knowledge, preservation of heritage, building the future.” The press conference also provided information on the Foundation’s achievements, challenges, and future direction from its establishment to the present.
81 Research Papers to Be Presented Under 15 Themes
At the press conference, the Foundation’s Vice-Chairperson Resham Gurung said that 81 research papers based on 15 thematic headings related to Indigenous Nationalities will be presented on February 10, 2026 [2082 Magh 27, BS].
According to him, the papers cover various aspects of Indigenous Nationalities, including:

Vice-Chairperson Gurung said, “Documenting the Indigenous knowledge and experiences of Indigenous Nationalities and linking them to national development is a necessity today. We expect the Silver Jubilee and the knowledge conference to influence the policy-making level.”
Formal Closing Program to Be Held With Chief Guest
The organizers stated that, on the occasion of the same conference and festival, a formal closing program for the Silver Jubilee will be organized with the Foundation’s Chairperson and Prime Minister Sushila Karki as the Chief Guest.
Expected Participation and Outcomes
For the Silver Jubilee and the Nepal Indigenous Knowledge Conference-Festival, the organizers expect participation of at least more than 800 Indigenous Nationalities activists, scholars, intellectuals, researchers, youth, and students from different regions of Nepal as well as from abroad.
The organizers believe that participants will have the opportunity to exchange experiences on Indigenous Nationalities issues and to draw shared conclusions through debate and dialogue.
The Foundation stated that it has been working for the past 25 years in the areas of identity, rights, empowerment, capacity development, and inclusive state-building for Indigenous Nationalities, and expressed confidence that the Silver Jubilee will further strengthen the institution’s role. It is also expected that the suggestions and conclusions emerging from the conference will be useful for developing upcoming policies, plans, and programs.
