Nepal to Host First Competitive Cow Exhibition in Chitwan

International Dairy Expo 2082 to Be Held in Chitwan

Nepal is set to host a competitive cow exhibition for the first time. Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu, Kishor Bagale, President of the Chitwan District Milk Producers Cooperative Union, said a competitive cow exhibition will be held in Bharatpur, Chitwan, under the “First International Dairy Expo 2082.”

Event Dates and Organizers

The “International Dairy Expo 2082” is scheduled to be held from February 8 to 12, 2026 [2082 Magh 25 to 29, BS]. The expo is being jointly organized by the Chitwan Industry Association and the Chitwan District Milk Producers Cooperative Union Limited.

The organizers said the competitive cow exhibition will be conducted during the same event, and prizes will be awarded.

Competition Format and Selection Focus

Bagale said farmers across the country have been requested to bring cows for the exhibition. He said the exhibition will be competitive, with evaluation based on factors including the cow’s attractiveness and essential aspects such as feed and management practices and overall health condition.

He said this is a first-time experience, and the goal is to promote cow farming and demonstrate that Nepal also has advanced-quality cows.

Cash Prizes for Winners

The organizers stated that the winning cow-rearing farmer will receive Rs 20,000 in cash. The second-place winner will receive Rs 15,000, and the third-place winner will receive Rs 10,000.

Purpose of the International Expo

Bagale said the international exhibition is being organized for the first time to:

  • Promote dairy products and entrepreneurship

  • Encourage the latest technologies and practices in dairy production processes and distribution

  • Provide small farmers, industrialists, and traders with professional networking, training, grants, and entrepreneurship opportunities

  • Improve quality and awareness

  • Help consumers understand the importance of dairy products

Regional Participation

It has been stated that products and technologies from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Bhutan will also be displayed at the expo.
