KB Academy Wins 23rd Jaycees Cup Football Title
KB Academy has won the title of the 23rd Inter-School Jaycees Cup Football Tournament held in Beni, Myagdi, for the first time. In the final of the tournament, held on Saturday, 13 Mangsir 2082, KB Academy defeated Beni Community Secondary School, Beni by 3–1 to secure the Jaycees Cup title for the first time.
The final match of the tournament took place at the open stage of Beni Bazaar. In the 22nd minute of the match, Bibek Budha of KB Academy scored a goal, giving KB Academy the lead. After that, Dikshit Budha of KB Academy scored in the 38th and 43rd minutes, widening the lead in the match. In additional time of the second half, Sandeep Kshetri of Beni Community scored one goal back, but the team could not avoid defeat.
Earlier, KB Academy had reached the final of the 17th Jaycees Cup held in 2018 but had to remain satisfied as the runner-up. The runner-up team Beni Community Secondary School had also reached the final in last year’s 22nd edition but missed out on the title.
In the tournament, the highest scorers were KB Academy’s Khim Bahadur Thapa, Mount Everest Residential Secondary School’s Angel Thajali, and Little Garden Academy’s Elin Jugjali, each scoring five goals. The best player was KB Academy’s Homan Jugjali, the best goalkeeper was KB Academy’s Sanjan Gharti, the best defender was Beni Community Secondary School’s Saires Pun, the best midfielder was KB Academy’s Mausam Roka, the best striker was Beni Community Secondary School’s Sandeep Kshetri, the rising player was Little Garden’s Ishan Subedi, and the best coach was KB Academy’s Tandin Lama. Likewise, Nisokot Secondary School was declared the most disciplined team, according to chief coordinator of the tournament, Navin Paudel.
In the tournament, the winning school received a running shield, trophy, medals, certificates, and a cash prize of Rs. 55,555, while the runner-up received a trophy, medals, certificates, and a cash prize of Rs. 35,535.
