Ninth Waling Festival to Be Held in Magh

A festival is going to be held in Waling of Syangja in the coming month of Magh. The Waling Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organising the “Ninth Waling Festival.” The association has started preparations for the festival, which will run from Magh 14 to 25.

Theme and Province-Level Scope

The ninth festival, which is being conducted at the Gandaki Province level under the slogan “Our pride, our dignity; Waling Festival, our identity,” will feature several programmes, according to Chet Narayan Shrestha, Chairperson of the Waling Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The festival will include:

• Trade fair

• School-level dance competition

• Lok dohori (folk duet song) competition

• Orange exhibition

• Fresh vegetable exhibition

He stated that the association is preparing to operate the festival by keeping local products as the first priority.

Planned Exhibitions and Activities

According to the association, the festival will also feature:

• Organic coffee exhibition

• Exhibition of improved breeds and technologies related to livestock and poultry

• Exhibition of ginger and medicinal herbs

• Information technology and educational exhibition

• Sports competitions

• Children’s park

• Handicraft exhibition

• Exhibitions of local art and culture

Business Targets and Financial Projections

The Ninth Waling Festival has set a target of achieving short-term business transactions worth 10 crore rupees and attracting 300,000 visitors.

It is estimated that there will be an income of 1 crore 76 lakh rupees and an expenditure of 1 crore 2 lakh rupees, resulting in a saving of 73 crore rupees. Chairperson Shrestha stated that the goal is to make the Ninth Waling Festival 2082 different from previous editions.

The association has been organising the festival every two years.
