Position on Overseas Voting Rights
President KC said the unity convention would create pressure on the government to address the problems faced by non-resident Nepalis.
He emphasized that the Government of Nepal should provide voting rights in elections to Nepalis living abroad. According to him, out of around 8 million Nepalis currently abroad, most are residing overseas while retaining Nepali citizenship.
He said it is a natural right for Nepalis living abroad to participate in Nepal’s electoral process and expressed confidence that, in the changed context, the right to vote from abroad will be ensured.
