Premier Wins Football and Basketball Titles
Kathmandu-based Premier International School has won gold medals after becoming champion in two separate interschool sports competitions. The school’s student team secured the titles of the Nepal Interschool Sports Association League Football 2026 and the 12th Xavier International U-19 Basketball tournament.
In the football final, Premier won the title by defeating James School 5-4 in a penalty shootout. The match had ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time, and the result was decided through penalties. Earlier, Premier had defeated The British School 2-0 in the semifinal. With the title, Premier goalkeeper Regish Nyaupane was declared the tournament’s Best Player.
Similarly, Premier’s team remained unbeaten to become champion in the 12th Xavier International U-19 Basketball tournament. In the final, Premier defeated Bangladesh’s BKSP team by a wide 67-43 margin to lift the title. Before that, Premier had beaten host Xavier 73-61 in the semifinal and Times College 53-11 in the quarterfinal.
In the league stage, Premier defeated Golden Gate College 46-44, Divya College 70-21, and Xavier ‘B’ 91-18.
In football, the champion team was led by captain Shyamir Shrestha. The squad included Best Player Regish Nyaupane, Shyam Shrestha, Nirvik Thapa, Prabesh Tamang, Drishya Ratna Shakya, Nishad Sitaula, Ishan Gauchan, Rishit Mainali, Tenzing Dawo Lama, Aryak Karki, Oliver Karki, Arjal Adhikari, Aarush Karki, Sankalp Pokharel, Abhim Roka Magar, Noah Rai, and Arju T. Rajbhandari.
The football team was coached by Suraj Maharjan, Sanjay Shrestha, and Sugat Shrestha.
Likewise, the basketball team included Dawa T. Lama Tamang, Pranay Man Shrestha, Pratham Shrestha, Jyotsan Joshi, Adamya Maharjan, Ashwin Chalise, Suprim Maharjan, Sayugya Mahat, and Kai Yoshi Prajapati.
Nepal national basketball team captain Sadhish Pradhan served as the coach of the team.
