Tribhuvan University 51st Convocation Ceremony

Kathmandu, Kirtipur – 25 December 2025: Tribhuvan University’s 51st convocation ceremony is being held on Thursday.

In the convocation ceremony, 27 medals and awards will be distributed to the best-performing students at the MPhil, postgraduate, and bachelor’s levels.

Students who completed their studies between 2081 Asar 1 and 2082 Jestha 31 will be eligible to participate in the convocation ceremony.

According to Tribhuvan University, 89,191 students became eligible after passing examinations at various levels for the convocation ceremony, but only 16,380 students submitted formal applications to the Examination Control Office to participate in this ceremony.

Ceremony schedule and venue

Tribhuvan University’s 51st convocation ceremony will be held with Nobel Prize-winning Japanese professor Takaaki Kajita as the chief guest.

According to information shared at a press conference organized by the university today, the ceremony will take place at Dasharath Stadium on Poush 10, 2082.

Nobel laureate Kajita will attend the ceremony as the chief guest. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2015.

University statement

Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal said that the participation of a Nobel Prize winner will enhance the university’s international prestige.

Participation and attendance

The university stated that more than 16,300 students will participate in this year’s convocation ceremony.

A total of 41,000 people, including their parents and guardians, are expected to attend.

The university reported that 89,191 students passed across the Bachelor’s, Postgraduate, Master’s, Darsanacharya, and Vidyavaridhi levels.

Among them, 16,380 students submitted applications to participate in the convocation ceremony.

Presiding officials and special guests

It was also informed that Prime Minister and Chancellor Sushila Karki will preside over the convocation ceremony.

Likewise, Education Minister and Pro-Chancellor Mahabir Pun will attend as a special guest.

In addition, 52 members of the Tribhuvan University Senate will be present wearing convocation gowns.

Medals and award recipients

In the program, 11 female students and 14 male students who achieved excellent results in examinations across various faculties and levels will also receive medals.

Faculty-wise pass figures

Tribhuvan University reported that, this time, the following numbers of students passed:

  • Humanities: 14,851 students

  • Management: 43,610 students

  • Faculty of Law: 2,335 students

  • Education: 16,467 students
