ULaw and GUS Hold High-Impact Masterclass in Nepal to Strengthen Educational Ties

The University of Law Business School (ULBS), in partnership with Global University Systems (GUS), recently hosted the Engage Forum in Nepal—an academic masterclass designed to connect with students, educators, and institutions across South Asia.

Dr. Andres Perez Ruiz, Director of ULBS, led the session. With more than two decades of international academic experience across four continents, Dr. Ruiz provided deep insight into how the university combines rigorous academics with real-world application.

“At ULBS, we focus on preparing graduates who are ready to take on global challenges. Our programs are built to balance knowledge and employable skills,” said Dr. Ruiz.

The event attracted aspiring students, educational leaders, and academic representatives from various sectors. It was part of ULaw’s continued initiative to enhance collaboration in South Asia and provide new opportunities for learners from the region.

Participants also got a closer look at ULaw’s institutional strengths. The university is the UK’s largest provider of legal education*, holds a QS 5-star rating, and is a trusted education partner for 91 of the top 100 law firms in the country. In 2023, ULaw was awarded a Silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), and 2024, it was ranked among the top 10 in the UK for teaching quality by the National Student Survey.

Speaking at the forum, Ms. Ula Tang-Plowman, Executive Director International and Vice Chair of BUILA, highlighted the university’s growing global footprint.

“Our goal is to build meaningful academic bridges. South Asia remains a key region for us because of the strong student potential,” she remarked.

Dipansh Singla, Global Director of Student Recruitment at GUS, echoed similar sentiments:

“This event represents our broader focus on making international education accessible. Nepal stands out for its talented and determined students, and we look forward to supporting them through partnerships and outreach.”

Raju Poudel, Regional Director for South Asia at ULaw, shared his observations on the increasing interest in UK-based higher education among Nepali students.

“We’re seeing rising demand from Nepal for career-oriented programs with strong industry links. ULaw meets this need with a curriculum that’s both relevant and recognized,” he said.

Adding a local perspective, Ankit Dhakal, Business Development Manager for Nepal at ULaw, emphasized the value of events like the Engage Forum.

“Sessions like these help us stay connected to the needs of Nepali students. We’re committed to building a stronger presence here through active engagement and support,” he said.

The masterclass concluded with a networking session, where education professionals, institutional partners, and representatives from various organizations interacted with the ULaw leadership team. The gathering created space for open dialogue, future collaboration, and better understanding of ULaw’s academic direction.

The event was viewed as a positive step toward deepening academic partnerships and expanding opportunities for Nepalese students to access quality higher education in the UK.
