Kathmandu, Nepal — The Westminster College (TWC) concluded its Week of Welcome with an energetic 3v3 Basketball Tournament that brought together some of the best young talent from the Valley. The finals, held on Monday at the college grounds in Kupandol, saw Hounds Academy edge Herald College in a thrilling 21–20 win to lift the championship trophy.

The tournament drew wide interest, with 42 institutions registering. Of these, 32 teams made it to the court, representing 26 leading colleges and six established basketball academies. Notable participants included The British College, Herald College, Global College, St. Xavier’s College, Triton International College, Kanjirowa College, Trinity College, Prasadi Academy, NASA College, Orchid International College, and Kathmandu College of Central State. Basketball academies such as Hounds, Downtown, Ballers, and Elite also brought strong squads into the competition.

The championship game kept the crowd on edge from start to finish. Both teams exchanged points with intensity, refusing to give an inch. In the end, Hounds Academy managed to stay just one step ahead, sealing the match 21–20.

As champions, Hounds received a trophy, medals, certificates, and a cash prize of NPR 15,000. Herald College, who pushed the winners all the way, also earned a trophy, medals, certificates, and a cash prize of NPR 10,000.

Hounds Academy’s Simon Gurung stood out throughout the tournament and was named Most Valuable Player (MVP). His performance earned him a trophy along with a cash prize of NPR 3,000.

The awards were presented by Mr. Arun Lal Joshi, Head of College, and Mr. Subas Gauli, Events & Engagement Manager at Westminster.

During the closing ceremony, Mr. Gauli expressed his appreciation to all participating teams and highlighted the enthusiasm surrounding this first edition of the tournament. He also shared Westminster’s commitment to continuing such events in the future, aiming to make them even more competitive and rewarding for players.
