Nepal Rastra Bank Syllabus for Assistant II Level

Here is the official syllabus and examination scheme of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB)for the open competitive examination for Assistant-level positions under the Administration Service.

The exam is conducted in two stages: a written examination and an interview. The written part has two papers of 100 marks each, with short- and long-answer questions and separate pass marks, followed by an interview of 25 marks. A separate pre-qualifying objective test may also be held before the main written examination.

Paper I covers Banking, Accounting, Mathematics and Information Technology. The Banking section deals with Nepal’s banking and financial system, the organisational structure, functions and powers of Nepal Rastra Bank, the role of other banks and financial institutions, and key banking services such as deposits, credit, letters of credit, guarantees, SWIFT, ABBS, cheque clearing, remittance and foreign exchange, along with financial literacy, financial inclusion, and money and capital markets.

The Accounting section includes basic accounting concepts and records, financial statements, bank reconciliation, internal control and internal audit, depreciation, government accounting, national accounting standards, NFRS and inventory management.

Mathematics and IT cover practical numerical topics (interest, profit and loss, discount, area and averages, data handling and price index) and basic IT concepts, including NRB IT guidelines, office systems, operating systems, databases, IT security, and internet and e-mail.

Paper II focuses on Economics, Management and Law. Economics includes the structure of the Nepali economy, macroeconomic indicators, monetary and fiscal policy, development challenges and the role of institutions such as the World Bank, ADB, AIIB and IMF.

Management covers principles of management, leadership, communication, supervision, HRM, industrial relations and office management. 

The Law section includes the Constitution of Nepal and key banking-related laws such as the NRB Act, Banks and Financial Institutions Act, Banking Offence Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Company Act, Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, and Merger and Acquisition Bylaws.
