13 Campuses in Sudurpashchim Requested for Integration into Far Western University

A group of leaders from Sudurpashchim Province has officially requested Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to help bring 13 campuses under the umbrella of Far Western University (FWU). The delegation, led by CPN (UML) Secretary Lekhraj Bhatta, met with the Prime Minister today and put forward a proposal to transfer these campuses—currently affiliated with Tribhuvan University—into FWU as constituent campuses.

List of Campuses Proposed for Merger

The team asked that the following institutions, already operating across Sudurpashchim Province, be recognized as official constituent campuses of FWU:

  • Bhanu Multiple Campus, Dodhara Chandani, Kanchanpur

  • Achham Multiple Campus, Mangalsen, Achham

  • Lamki Multiple Campus, Kailali

  • Kedar Jyotipunj Multiple Campus, Doti

  • Shankarpur Campus, Darchula

  • Ghodaghodi Multiple Campus, Kailali

  • Krishna Baijnath Multiple Campus, Jhalari, Kanchanpur

  • Puchaundi Multiple Campus, Hat, Baitadi

  • Bajhangdeep Multiple Campus, Bajhang

  • Sunkuda Multiple Campus, Bajhang

  • Bhimdatta Multiple Campus, Dadeldhura

  • Mahakali Multiple Campus, Belauri, Kanchanpur

  • Gokuleshwar College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Gokuleshwar, Baitadi

Prime Minister's Positive Response

According to Govinda Giri, former Vice President of ANNFSU, Prime Minister Oli responded positively to the proposal. He recalled that during his earlier term as Prime Minister, a decision had already been passed through the FWU Senate to integrate these 13 campuses. PM Oli assured the delegation that steps would be taken soon to move the integration process forward.

Delegation Included Senior Regional Leaders

Along with Secretary Bhatta, the delegation included senior UML figures such as Ganesh Thagunna and Rajendra Rawal—the former Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province. Their joint presence underscored the importance of the request, reflecting a shared goal to strengthen regional higher education under a unified university system.
