Application Open for 8th National Astronomy Olympiad:
Applications have been opened for the 8th National Astronomy Olympiad to be held in 2021. This year, students from class 8 to 12 will be able to apply for the program, which has been running since 2014, to identify and promote the talents of school-level students.
Suresh Bhattarai, president of the Nepal Astronomical Society, informed that the National Astronomy Olympiad will be organized in two categories, junior and senior, focusing on the learning of the students.
Under this, students of classes 8-10 will be able to apply for junior, and students of class 11-12 will be able to apply for senior. The first round of the Olympiad selection test will be held regionally in Itahari, Janakpur, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal, Surkhet, and Dhangadhi on Saturday, Chaitra 28, 2077 (April 10, 2021) from 12 noon to 2 pm.
The society has stated that the students of the respective provinces will be included in the second phase (national phase) on the basis of their performance in the provincial phase.
Similarly, the student who excels in the second phase will be included in the third and final phase. Through the third round of evaluation, participants will be recommended for this year's International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad.

Each year this competition creates a national merit list for the regional and international astronomy Olympiads. Between July-December, selected students will get an opportunity to participate in International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO), and Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad.
