Education Journalists' Group Honors Founder Rajan Sharma, Principal Rajendra Dawadi and Others

The Education Journalists' Group honored and awarded several individuals and organizations from the education sector on Monday during its 27th General Assembly and 13th Convention.

Educationist and former Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Kedar Bhakta Mathema presented the honors and awards at the event. The group's founding president, Rajan Sharma, received the Education Journalism Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 25,000.

Rajendra Dawadi, principal of Trishuli Triveni Secondary School in Nuwakot, was also honored for successfully keeping students safe during the Bhotekoshi flood on Bhadra 10.

Bebisa Magarati, a student at Ranibari Secondary School, was recognized for innovative work, while Save the Children received an institutional honor. Jileshan Sah was presented with the Education Service Honour.

Speaking at the event, Shiva Kumar Sapkota, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports, said education journalists have an important role in bringing problems, policies, and reform issues in the education sector into public debate in a factual manner.

Similarly, Nepal Teachers' Federation President Sundar Panta called on the government to invite the federation for talks on the demands it has raised.

Labaraj Oli, President of the National Campaign for Education Nepal (NCE Nepal), said cooperation with education journalists is necessary for educational transformation. PABSON Vice-President Deepika Thapa Rimal said the private sector has a significant role in education.

Representatives of various organizations attending the program also stressed the need for continued dialogue between the government and stakeholders to advance educational reform and transformation.
