Gandaki Province Training Academy (GPTA - Gandaki Pradesh Talim Pratisthan) has submitted its annual report to Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel. GPTA Executive Director Rishiram Pandey handed over the annual report for the financial year 2078/79 to the Chief Minister on Monday.

After accepting the report, Chief Minister Pokharel expressed his satisfaction that GPTA has been formed in accordance with the purpose for which it was formed. Chief Minister Pokharel instructed GPTA to work harder in the coming days to provide necessary training to public representatives and employees working in the field of service delivery to citizens.

His instructions were to institutionalize federalism and work more thoughtfully on the question of justifying the provincial government. Chief Minister Pokharel also inquired about GPTA established in other provinces and Gandaki and their performance.

GPTA received ISO accreditation from Quality Austria this year. Executive Director Pandey said that the last year was taken as a year of economic and institutional development according to the strategic plan. He informed that the training needs for the state and local levels have been identified and the annual program and budget have been prepared based on that. He said that training material related to local economic development which is a priority of the local level has been published and distributed to all local levels.

Executive Director (ED) Pandey said that the capacity of 6,887 people has been developed through 163 long and short-term training for people's representatives and employees at the state and local levels. According to him, 820 technical staff selected and recommended for offices at the province and local level by the Gandaki State Public Service Commission have been given service entry orientation.

GPTA has also monitored the effectiveness of the training program with 53 employees of 16 municipalities in Kaski, Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi, and Mustang districts who received training in the last fiscal year.

He also informed that the approval of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has been obtained in this financial year by creating an in-service training course for the sixth, seventh, and eighth level employees working at the provincial and local levels. GPTA has also been doing various activities under the state and local government support program. According to which, 8 local level periodical plans have been formulated, 29 municipalities' revenue improvement action plans have been created, and 20 municipalities' capacity development plans have been created.

 

According to Executive Director Pandey, gender equality and social inclusion strategies have been developed in 44 municipalities, and gender equality and social inclusion have been tested in 49 municipalities. Similarly, institutional capacity self-assessment of all local levels of the province, gender-sensitive budgeting, and gender equality and social inclusion orientation have been done at all local levels.

Chief Secretary Raviraj Panth, Chief Minister's Political Adviser Khadga Bahadur Kamal, Chief Minister, and Cabinet Office Secretary Ram Prasad Acharya, and Manmaya Pangeni Bhattarai were present on the occasion.
