IT Academy Taplejung Helps 59 Youths into Employment
Through Taplejung’s only IT academy, 59 youths have obtained employment over a period of two years. These are youths who learned skills directly at this academy.
Information about this was shared during a program organized on the occasion of the academy’s second annual celebration.
Training and Employment Outcomes
According to Head of Academy Basant Palungwa Limbu, 181 youths have been trained at the academy so far. Most of those trained have secured employment ranging from the local area to the global market.
The annual celebration was held with Khagensingh Hangam, Minister for Industry, Agriculture and Cooperatives of Koshi Province, as the chief guest.
The academy was established through the Human Practice Foundation with financial support from Danish citizen Waldemar Smith. The celebration also highlighted and appreciated the fact that youths from Taplejung have gained employment in the global market through this academy.
Role in Reducing Labour Migration and Local Commitments
People’s representatives present at the program praised the IT academy for playing an important role in helping to reduce the trend of youths going abroad solely for employment.
Chairs of the local levels expressed their commitment to manage budgets through their respective municipalities so that youths from their areas can also learn skills at the IT academy and be provided with employment opportunities.
Minister Hangam has allocated a budget of around 4 million rupees to be implemented within the current fiscal year.
Recognition of Former Students and Participants
The academy’s founder, Smith, also praised former students Asim Tolang and Sanu Ingwasam, who are doing excellent work.
The program was attended by Provincial Government Minister Hangam, Chief of the District Coordination Committee Chhiring Lama, Chair of Pathibhara Yangwarak Rural Municipality Kesharkumar Menyangbo, Chair of Meringden Rural Municipality Yukhangbir Hangam Dambar, Chair of Mikwakhola Rural Municipality Bhaktabahadur Karki, among others.
Taplejung
