President Emphasises Skill-Based, Ethical Education at Padma Kanya
Addressing the ceremony held on Friday on the occasion of the diamond jubilee of Padma Kanya Multiple Campus, President Ramchandra Paudel said that skill-based education which enhances practical knowledge, moral values and capacities in line with the needs of the nation has become the necessity of the present time. He said that the primary task of educational institutions is to produce quality and competent human resources required for different sectors of the country.
He said, “It is found that many women who are established not only in the academic and administrative sectors, but also in the political sector of the country, obtained higher education from this campus. However, along with the growing trend of studying new subjects in higher education, there has in recent times been a rising trend of Nepali students going abroad.” He added, “I believe that, in the coming days, this campus will pay special attention to providing quality education within the country in a way that responds to market demands.”
Stating that education makes an important contribution to the development of any country, he recalled that Padma Kanya has made a special contribution to the educational advancement of women in Nepal.

Padma Kanya’s Role and Plan for Upgrading
Saying that Padma Kanya has a proud history, he expressed happiness over the initiatives taken to upgrade the campus into a women’s university and extended his best wishes for success.
Campus Chief Prof. Dr. Jayalakshmi Pradhan pledged to make the campus technology-friendly and to produce human resources capable of competing in the global market. She said that 8,245 students are currently studying at the campus from the bachelor’s to the master’s level.
Similarly, Assistant Campus Chief Bimala Nepal said that students who studied at Padma Kanya Campus have proved themselves to be outstanding in administration, education, politics and all other sectors.
Honour for PhD Graduates and Former Professors
The President honoured Vidya Thapa, Pragya Gautam, Bhagawati Sedhai, Niran Khanal and Anjana Pokharel, who completed their PhD degrees in the latest academic session.
The campus also honoured former professors who have reached the age of 75 years.
