Dr. Hariprasad Lamsal Appointed Chairperson of Teachers Service Commission
The Cabinet meeting held on Thursday appointed former secretary Dr. Hariprasad Lamsal as Chairperson of the Teachers Service Commission. Six candidates, including Dr. Lamsal, were competing for the post of Commission Chairperson.
Dr. Lamsal, who had served in the education service for a long time, was promoted to secretary and retired from service only a few months ago upon reaching the age limit of 58.
The Teachers Service Commission recommends candidates for the permanent appointment and promotion of community school teachers, issues the teaching licenses required for teachers, and advises the government on matters related to teachers’ service, conditions, and facilities.
In line with the recommendations of the High-Level National Education Commission, 2055 BS, the sixth amendment to the Education Act, 2028 BS established the “National Teachers Service Commission” in 2056 BS. Subsequently, on 25 Magh 2058 BS, the current “Teachers Service Commission” was formed through the seventh amendment to the Education Act, 2028 BS.
