Kathmandu Metropolitan City Begins Process to Cancel Permits of 92 Institutional Schools

Kathmandu — The Education Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has initiated the process of cancelling the permits or approvals of 92 institutional schools that had received permission to operate within the metropolis but are currently not in operation.

The Metropolitan City published a very urgent notice dated 2083/05/06, stating that the schools, which had previously obtained permission under the prevailing laws and were said to be operating, were found not to be in operation during field monitoring. Accordingly, preparations have been made to cancel their permits or approvals.

Based on the decision of the Education Committee meeting dated 2083/04/28, the permits of these schools are to be cancelled pursuant to Section 16(b) of the Education Act, 2028, and Section 36 of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Education Act, 2075.

If any school has a valid basis or reason why its permit should not be cancelled, it has been instructed to submit the necessary documents and supporting evidence to the Metropolitan City's Education Department within 35 (thirty-five) days from the date of publication of the notice. The notice states that if no claim or objection is received within the specified period, the cancellation process will proceed automatically.
