Private and Boarding Schools Organization Nepal (PABSON), Kohalpur, has provided Rs 2.1 million for the relief and rehabilitation of citizens affected by floods.
A total of Rs 2,102,602 contributed by 25 schools affiliated with PABSON Kohalpur was handed over to PABSON Banke during a program. Of the total amount, some PABSON Kohalpur-affiliated schools had contributed Rs 529,505 to the Prime Minister's Natural Disaster Relief Fund, Rs 1,373,992 to PABSON Kohalpur's account, and Rs 199,105 to PABSON Banke's account.
PABSON Kohalpur Chairperson Ramesh KC said that a cheque for Rs 1,373,992 deposited in PABSON Kohalpur's official account was handed over to PABSON Banke. According to him, member schools contributed amounts ranging from a minimum of Rs 5,000 to a maximum of Rs 200,000 to support flood-affected people during the national disaster.
"According to the circular issued by central PABSON, some schools contributed to the Prime Minister's Natural Disaster Relief Fund within a few days of the flood. Some schools also deposited contributions with PABSON Banke. We have now handed over the amount deposited in PABSON Kohalpur's own account," Chairperson KC said.
The contributing schools in Kohalpur were Gorkha United School, Jivan Jyoti Secondary School, Shining Star Secondary School, Rajjanaki Secondary School, Namuna Vidyasadan Secondary School, Balvidya Secondary School, Takshashila Academy, Shikha Academy, Nimble Academy, Greenpeace School, Bageshwari Academy, Deepjyoti Vidyashram Secondary School, Vrij International School, Everest Sainik Secondary School, Lord Wageshwari, Baljyoti Secondary School, Gurukul Shiksha Sadan, Century Education Academy, Manakamana Public Academy, Bharosa Academy, Kohalpur Pathshala English Medium School, Canvas Boarding School, Greenhill Academy, Baby Bloom Montessori, and Samata School.
While receiving the bank cheque for the amount collected by PABSON Kohalpur, PABSON Banke Chairperson Bikash Bajracharya said that, in accordance with the directive of central PABSON, Rs 5 million would be collected in Banke district and provided as assistance.
He said that the recent devastating floods and landslides in various districts of Nepal had already resulted in the deaths of more than a thousand people, displaced hundreds of families, and left thousands of citizens without homes. He added that, in such a painful situation, everyone should fulfill their social responsibility from their respective positions.
