Weekly Exams and Extra Classes Begin in Kalikot
Community schools in Kalikot have started the practice of weekly exams to improve educational quality. Along with regular classes, community schools have been running extra classes to try to improve results.
Kalikot’s First Badimalika Secondary School has continued regular teaching along with extra classes. Schools that used to close during the rainy season have also started tuition classes.
Badimalika Secondary School, Raskot, has stated that it has been conducting internal exams on public holidays after starting residential classes from Mangsir 1. English teacher Krishna Prasad Baral said that the school conducts weekly exams, and based on the results, subject teachers will continue providing additional classes in the subjects where students are weak.
These exams are conducted on public holidays or Saturdays. Teacher Baral said that since other students do not come on those days, the school conducts exams for students preparing for the SEE within a three-hour period, even outside in the field.
Badimalika Secondary School has been improving its exam results compared to other schools. As part of continued efforts to improve further, residential classes along with other tuition classes are also ongoing.
The school has arranged hostel accommodation for students with meals and snacks at a rate of four thousand rupees per month. The food cost is 65 rupees per student. This expense has been managed through municipal and school sources.
Principal Pushparaj Baral said that although the amount is less this year than last year, the school has been managing student expenses somehow. This year, 116 students will take the SEE exam at Badimalika Secondary School.
Last year, only 49 students took the exam. Teachers said that because some previously failed students are also participating, the results for the academic session 2081 were weaker than those of 2080.
Kala Shilla, Motiram, and Janajagrati Secondary Schools in Raskot have also been running extra classes. Across the district, tuition classes are continuing in some places, while extra classes are continuing in others.
