Kathmandu Metropolis asks 107 schools to contact it

Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Education Department has issued a public notice asking 107 schools to get in contact. The notice was issued after it was found that 107 schools within the metropolitan area were not operating physically.

According to the public notice, based on a decision of the Metropolitan City’s Municipal Education Committee on Shrawan 28, schools that had previously received permission were found to be not operating on-site at present.

The Metropolitan City has instructed such schools that were found not to be operating on-site to contact the Education Department within 15 days.

The Metropolitan City has stated that it is preparing to move forward with the process of revoking permissions for schools that received approval but are currently not operating on-site. After publishing the list of such schools, it has asked the concerned principal, operator, manager, or Guthiyar to contact the department if the school is still in operation.

The department has stated that if the school fails to contact within the specified time and cannot confirm that it is operating, it will be recommended to the executive body for closure of such schools.

In recent times, the Metropolitan City has stated that it is intensifying its campaign to remove unauthorized or name-only schools and to make the education sector more organized.
