KMC Builds Integrated Attendance System in Community Schools

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has developed its own integrated attendance system for the daily attendance of community school teachers, staff, and students.
The Education Department and the Information Technology Department developed the system internally and connected community schools to the integrated platform. Usernames and passwords have already been provided to all schools.
Data entry and face-reading have been completed for teachers and staff of the following schools:

Acting Chief of the Education Department, Keshav Prasad Gyawali, stated that student data entry is underway and the face-reading process is in progress.
The work for this system was carried out by KMC’s internal human resources. This has begun to reduce KMC’s dependence on external support for system development.
After developing the system, KMC has provided training to staff responsible for school accounts and administration to operate the attendance system.
Following the training, schools themselves will handle data entry, updates, and report preparation. However, real-time information can be monitored through KMC’s central system. Head of the Information Technology Department, Anirudra Nepal, said, “Developing KMC’s own system is the biggest achievement. Now we do not have to look to consultants for services.”
Information Technology Officer Engineer Madhav Khanal said there is a plan to integrate the system with the Sub-National Treasury Regulatory Application (SUTRA) after data entry is completed.
KMC said the system will also function as a personal profile, allowing students to view their own details. KMC also informed that, as the system is further developed, it will be designed to send guardians information when students are absent.
