Kishani Secondary School Raises Over NPR 20 Million for Endowment Fund

Kisani Secondary School, located in Bim, Malika Rural Municipality-7 of Myagdi, has collected over NPR 20 million for its planned Kisani Sanjeevani Endowment Fund.

The fund aims to provide scholarships to students from disadvantaged, low-income, orphaned, and academically capable backgrounds enrolled in the school's agriculture technical education program.

Community-Led Initiative

Principal Jung Bahadur Garbuja stated that the fundraising initiative, which began during the Deusi-Bhailo celebration in Kartik, gained momentum when residents of Bim living in Nepal and abroad joined the campaign. As a result, the school has now collected a total of NPR 21.7 million.

Support for Technical Education Students

According to Principal Garbuja, the interest generated from the endowment fund will be used to offer free tuition to deserving students who cannot afford technical education. He noted,

“We want to ensure that no student with a desire to pursue technical education is deprived due to financial hardship. The interest from this fund will cover all necessary educational expenses.”

Origin of the Fundraising Effort

Garbuja further shared that the initiative began with NPR 3.392 million raised during the Deusi-Bhailo event on the occasion of Tihar. Encouraged by this momentum, the school launched a broader fundraising campaign.

Support from Bim residents working abroad in various professions significantly contributed to the campaign's success. Garbuja mentioned that spontaneous donations continue to arrive daily.

“This active involvement reflects the unity of the Bim community. People have generously supported the technical education endowment fund being set up in their village,” he added.

Formal Launch on 2082 Baisakh 18

The fund will be formally launched on Baisakh 18. Although NPR 21.7 million has been collected, the school plans to establish a final endowment of NPR 20 million after deducting necessary expenses.

Broader Educational Impact

The school stated that this fund will benefit underprivileged and talented students from various districts who come to study agriculture and veterinary science. The interest income will also support other academic development programs within the school.

Growth in Student Enrollment

Kisani Secondary School has seen increasing student interest in its agriculture and veterinary programs. In 2068, B.S., the school received affiliation from CTEVT to run a 29-month JTA program. In 2072, B.S., it launched a three-year Diploma in Agriculture (Plant Science) and a three-year Diploma in Animal Science.

Students from 21 districts across Nepal are enrolled in its technical programs.
