
Government and Nepal Teachers' Federation Reach 9-Point Agreement
Nepal Teachers' Federation and the Government have reached a nine-point agreement. The agreement was signed between Education Minister Raghuji Pant and the Teachers' Federation.
These decisions have been implemented following approval by the Council of Ministers.
The Ministry of Education has based the agreement on a foundation of seven earlier points. Minister Pant thanked former Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai for her contributions to the prior groundwork.
9-Point Agreement Between Protesting Teachers and Government

Healthcare Facility:
All teachers and school staff will be eligible for subsidized healthcare services at the Civil Servants' Hospital located in Kathmandu. -
Accumulated Sick Leave and Compensation:
Teachers in temporary positions—including relief quota, temporary contracts, former lower secondary quota, teaching grants, technical stream, special education, and early childhood facilitators—will be allowed to accumulate sick leave. Upon retirement, they will receive a lump-sum payment equivalent to the value of their unused sick leave. -
Salary Arrangement for Facilitators and Staff:
The Government of Nepal will regulate salaries for early childhood facilitators and school staff as per government-set standards. -
Grade and Salary Update from Fiscal Year 2082/83:
From the next fiscal year 2082/83, permanent teachers in the following categories will receive grades and salary scales equivalent to civil service standards:-

Remote Area Allowance for All Teaching Categories:
All teachers—permanent or temporary—including those under relief quota, temporary appointment, contract, former lower secondary quota, technical stream, and special education, will be eligible for remote area allowance according to existing legal provisions. -
Inclusion in the Social Security Fund:
Private-source teachers and staff working in community schools will be included in the Social Security Fund through legal provisions to be added to the regulations. -
Inclusion in National Precedence List:
Teachers will be listed in the official Order of Precedence of the Government of Nepal. -
Free Treatment for Those Injured During the Protest:
All teachers, security personnel, employees, and journalists injured during the protest organized by the Nepal Teachers' Federation will receive free treatment at government hospitals. -
Salary and Grade Parity:
Salary and grade for teachers in the First Level of Lower Secondary will be adjusted to match those of Second Level Secondary teachers.
