Major Disaster Accident Details During the Last Year 2078

The disaster has caused a loss of around Rs 2.62 billion in a year. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, last year 2078 Baishakh 1st to 2078 Chaitra 30 the loss was Rs 2.62 billion.

Most of the damage was caused by fire. According to the authority, the fire caused a loss of Rs 2.27 billion last year alone. In one year, 94 people have lost their lives in fires. Similarly, 505 people have lost their lives in 3,904 incidents including floods/landslides, lightning, hurricanes, snake bites and animal attacks. 76 people are missing.

According to the Authority, 1,777 people were injured in these incidents. Authority spokesperson Dijen Bhattarai informed that 6,138 families have been affected by the disaster.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act-2074 BS has given the responsibility to all three levels in disaster management. Spokesperson Bhattarai stressed the need to work with common responsibility in disaster risk management as per the responsibility.

He said that the main responsibility of disaster management lies with the municipality and the damage can be reduced if investment and effective work is done in the community by making action plan accordingly.
