Historical Materials Museum Established at Manakamana Ratna-Ambika Secondary School in Sankhuwasabha
Manakamana Ratna-Ambika Secondary School, located in Tumlingtar, Khandbari Municipality-9, Sankhuwasabha, has established a museum on the school premises to preserve archaeological and historical materials while providing educational knowledge.
The school collected old household items and agricultural tools and brought the museum into operation to provide students with practical knowledge alongside textbook learning.
Located at an altitude of 457 metres above sea level in the Arun Valley, described as the world’s lowest valley, the school’s museum systematically displays various items used by earlier generations.
According to Principal Kuber Prasad Bhetuwal, the museum contains agricultural tools such as danto, halo, phali, phyauri, kodali, juwa, hansiya, hallud, and samajuwa.

The museum also preserves rare objects and documents, including copper paisa, old currencies formerly in circulation, doli paisa, coins, old digital cameras, television sets, cassette players, clocks, a gramophone, telephones, radios, and utensils made of wood and clay.
Principal Bhetuwal said that allowing students to directly observe objects once used in everyday life has significantly helped them understand past lifestyles, technologies, and stages of social development.
The museum has now become an important center for study, research, and observation for students and parents visiting from Sankhuwasabha and other districts.
Established in 2016 BS, the school began offering Civil Engineering under the technical stream at the secondary level in 2073 BS.
The school currently has 1,442 students from Nursery to Grade 12. It has also been selected as a Provincial Model School for its efficient management, creative educational activities, effective teaching and learning, and strong academic results.
