Minister Pun Expresses Concern Over Madhesh Education
Education, Science and Technology Minister Dr. Mahabir Pun has expressed concern that Madhesh Province has fallen behind in the field of education.
Inaugurating a program held here today on preparations for the Literacy Province Declaration Campaign, organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Culture of Madhesh Province, Minister Pun stated that although Madhesh Province was ahead in education in the past, it is unfortunate that it is weak in the present situation.
Noting that Madhesh Province is ahead in economic, social, and political spheres, Minister Pun said it is a matter for study how and why it has fallen behind in education. He emphasized that for sustainable and effective development of the education sector, all three tiers of government must work in a planned manner.
“We are in an age of technology, and not even being literate is a matter of great irony,” Minister Pun said.
On the occasion, Madhesh Province Minister for Education and Culture Rani Sharma Tiwari said that Madhesh Province’s education status is weaker than that of all other provinces, and stated that the provincial government is moving forward in a planned way to develop the education sector. She added that for sustainable development of education, it is necessary for the government and non-government sectors to work together.
Madhesh Province Assembly member Anjana Pandit said that to address Madhesh’s education problems, all three tiers of government must prioritize quality education.
