Nepal Insurance Authority Holds Discussion on Insurance Education Content for School Textbooks
The Nepal Insurance Authority has held discussions with concerned stakeholders regarding insurance education content to be included in school-level Social Studies textbooks.
In the discussion held at the Authority’s central office on Poush 19, 2082 (BS), Authority Chair Janakraj Sharma said it is necessary to include content on the need and importance of insurance in textbooks from the school level and to develop it as an integral part of human life.
He said, “It is necessary to raise awareness about insurance from an early age. Insurance provides financial protection for human life and property. It is necessary to have information that life can be made easier through insurance. This expands the scope of insurance, reduces costs, minimizes risk, and overall supports the country’s economic development.”
Yubaraj Paudel, Director General of the Curriculum Development Center under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, expressed the view that it should be included in textbooks so that students can understand insurance during their school studies and, after completing their studies, can also help others understand its importance.
Prof. Dr. Ram Krishna Tiwari, Executive Director of Tribhuvan University’s Curriculum Development Center and Chair of the Social Studies Subject Committee, urged the concerned officials, subject experts, and authors to reflect insurance-related content while writing Social Studies textbooks and preparing question papers.
The Authority stated that the program was organized with the objective of holding discussions and reaching concrete conclusions regarding the inclusion of insurance education content during the revision and rewriting of Social Studies textbooks, which is a compulsory subject at the school level.
The program included detailed discussions on possible insurance education topics within the proposed curriculum for Grades 4 to 12 under the Social Studies subject.
