Tarakhola Nepal Secondary School Endowment Fund Totals Rs 1 Crore 2 Lakh
Myagdi, 2082 Falgun 4 - Nepal Secondary School, located in Tarakhola Rural Municipality–4 of Baglung on the border with Myagdi, has collected Rs 1 crore in its endowment fund.
Including Rs 37 lakh received during the 57th anniversary celebration programs held from Magh 25 to Falgun 1 with various activities, the amount has been collected. The endowment fund—established to mobilize resources for the school’s academic and physical development, where 10+2 level teaching in Animal Science is being run under the technical stream—has so far collected Rs 1 crore 2 lakh, said School Management Committee Chair Padam Khatri.
“Donors have supported the endowment fund in memory of their deceased parents and deceased former students,” he said. “Tarakhola residents living abroad, along with organizations and businesspersons, have also contributed individually.”
The endowment fund was started from Rs 65 lakh held in the school’s internal source fund. Last year, on the occasion of the 56th anniversary, Rs 15 lakh assistance was received. Chair Khatri informed that the plan is to increase the endowment fund to Rs 2 crore and mobilize the interest to continue the school’s model teaching practices.

Similarly, Ram Chalise contributed Rs 3 lakh 50 thousand and Prakash Thapa contributed Rs 3 lakh 50 thousand. Lakhim Gaire contributed Rs 50 thousand and Bhakta Chokhal contributed Rs 50 thousand. In memory of the late Haribahadur Chokhal, a room has been constructed in the school building with Rs 4 lakh 55 thousand support from his father, Pokbahadur Chokhal.
At the school, where 411 students are studying, the average learning achievement of students in the general stream is 55.95, and the learning achievement of students in the technical stream is 65.15 percent, Principal Prakash Roka said. Through the federal government’s model school program, construction of five buildings with a capacity of 34 rooms has been completed, and one building is under construction. An 11-room hostel, a 13-room toilet facility, and computer, science, and animal science laboratories have been established.
Teaching up to Grade 8 is conducted in the English medium. With support from a Korean organization, there is also a classroom where information technology–enabled advanced multimedia and technology-enabled computer subject teaching is conducted.
Tarakhola Rural Municipality Chair Dhanbahadur B.k. said there is a plan to operate Nepal Secondary School as a residential school, add school bus services, and establish a campus as well.
